Another round of ‘Meet the Candidates’ held at Pukete Neighbourhood House

There was no lack of enthusiasm at the second “Meet the Candidates” event this Friday, 19 September morning at the local Pukete Neighbourhood House.

Though participation by local community members was limited to around 30-35, a large number of Hamilton West Ward, Mayoral and Maaori candidates candidates turned up at the event. Two Waikato regional Council candidates were also present.

It was an opportunity for voters to meet and engage directly with candidates standing in the local elections. They also heard their perspectives on important issues, some asked their your own questions from those who would be part of shaping the future of our city.

The event was designed to encourage open conversation between candidates and voters, and there was a rapid Yes/No question series also.

Each candidate was given time to address and most talked about their abilities and priorities for standing in the election. There was a pre-subitted question time as well.

At the informal mix and mingle session at the end, those gathered had a chance to ask more from the candidates at the time of light refreshments that were served.
