‘Cheeky’ police alert for group that ‘assaulted’ Kiwis

By Gurbir Singh:

Kiwi sense of humour is unbeatable – even when the laughter is at their own expense.

In a ‘cheeky’ Facebook post, the New Zealand’s Eastern District Police have poked fun at the Blackcaps team after their two successive defeats against India.

The New Zealand’s cricket team, Blackcaps were thrashed by India in the opening ODI by eight wickets in Napier, and then again in the second by 90 runs in Mt Maunganui.

The Eastern District Police post says:

“Witnesses report seeing this group badly assault an innocent looking bunch of New Zealanders in both Napier and Mt Maunganui in the last week. Extra care should be taken if you are carrying anything that looks like a cricket bat or ball.”

The police post has used the recent ‘unruly’ Irish tourist family’s reference in a lighter vein to have a laugh at their country’s humiliating defeat.

The post has already received nearly 4.5k likes, 899 comments and 1,641 shares.

Readers have been equally hilarious in their comments, and have admired the New Zealand police for their ‘sportsmen’ spirit. One Kiwi has gone to the extent of commenting that if Blackcaps wish to win, then perhaps they should play against India’s women cricket team.

The third ODI takes place again at Mt Maunganui today (Monday) which New Zealand must win to keep the series alive.
