Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust, Auckland in collaboration with Roopa Aur Aap Charitable Trust, organised a grand celebration of “International Day of Older Persons” at the Mt Roskill War Memorial Hall on 28 September(Saturday).
It was a day of entertainment, with dance performances and singing of Bollywood numbers by individuals and groups. Apart from the lively dance performances by the Khottey Sikkey Dance Group, seniors participated in a Fashion Walk, gracefully strutting down the runway and proving that age is just a number when it comes to enjoying life.
The celebration was attended by several prominent dignitaries, including Members of Parliament, Helen White and Carlos Cheung; Jessica Phuang (NZ Police’s Ethnic Responsiveness Manager); Ella Kumar (Chairperson of Auckland Council Puketāpapa Local Board); Michelle Clayton (Elected Member of the Waitākere Ranges Local Board) and Narendra Bhana (President NZICA).
According to Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust statement, board members and representatives from various other organisations were also present, making the event a true reflection of community spirit and collaboration.
