New Zealand’s national earthquake drill and tsunami hikoi, ShakeOut, is taking place on Thursday, 15 October, at 9.30am. Are you ready?

ShakeOut is held across the world to remind people of the right action to take during an earthquake- Drop, Cover and Hold – and to practise a tsunami hikoi (evacuation) if in a coastal area.

As natural disasters cannot be predicted, but we can take appropriate action to protect ourselves and those whom we care about – family, friends and neighbours when it happens.
Nationwide, 550,858 participants have already registered to participate in this drill. Have you done yours?
It just takes two minutes to sign up and to take part – schools, organisations or household. You will be sent all the information you need to do the drill.
