Hamilton retains Maaori Ward; Macindoe as Mayor-elect in updated results

Preliminary results released today (Sunday 12 October) show Tim Macindoe as the Mayor-elect of Hamilton for the 2025-2028 electoral term. Hamiltonians have also voted in favour of retaining Maaori wards.

The preliminary results today add 5500 ordinary votes cast on election day to yesterday’s progress results, but exclude special votes.

While Tim Macindoe has been provisionally elected as Mayor, the final result isn’t confirmed, as special votes still need to be counted. Once this is completed, Macindoe will be removed from the East Ward list and votes will then be reallocated to another candidate.
