New Zealand’s passport has been ranked once again sixth in the world’s passports, with 189 destinations available to Kiwi travellers without a prior visa. In 2023 also, New Zealand was in the same position.
The global passport ranking 2024 by the Henley Passport Index includes 199 different passports and 227 different travel destinations and ranking is based upon “the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa”.
First rank is shared by France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore and Spain, with their passport giving visa-free access to 194 destinations.
Finland, South Korea and Sweden are ranked second, and the third spot is shared by Austria, Denmark, Ireland and the Netherlands.
New Zealand shares the sixth ranking with Australia, the Czech Republic and Poland, but is above the US and Canada. In 2023, Australia was also similarly placed on sixth position.
Indian passport has improved its ranking from 83rd in 2023 to 80th on the Index this year, with 62 visa-free destinations, while China has improved from 63rd rank last year to 62nd with 85 destinations where their citizens can travel without a prior visa.
